I'm interested in what cash handling systems are available and what people find are the safest and most efficient systems for a specific type of store or environment. Is it the cash register and the bank bag or do you use a drop vault and armed pick up? What is the middle ground? The issues in order of importance seem to be cost, accuracy of accounts, efficient use of staff.
Currency Management companies
So called "Currency Management" companies can be a place to start to find information and options. One company that has an on the premises cash vault and pick up service that can serve the smaller retailer is Namsys Inc. They have a system that is a self-service hardware solution that enables individual employees to deposit and balance their own till in cash-intensive retail environments. The system even scans bills to check for counterfeit. It provides receipts of the logged transactions and a higher level of accountablity.
